Junaid Arshad, one of the ‘most wanted police officers’ accused of cybercrime and two other cases, has been arrested by The Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) cybercrime wing.

The former Gilgit-Baltistan Deputy Inspector General (DIG) was an absconder in a case filed against him in 2017, according to the FIA.

He was accused of sharing obscene images of his former wife on social media whilst Danish, the other suspect involved in the case has already been punished before the court.

Previously, Arshad’s former wife had addressed the Chief Justice via an application stating that the DIG was a well-connected police officer who tried to disgrace her by uploading her pictures on social media.

DIG Arshad had posted immoral pictures of his former wife on social media with the intent to humiliate her, the application stated; the application further stated that while his application for bail was turned down by a trial court, the police had not taken him into custody for prosecution.

Whilst three different cases had been registered against Junaid, he never appeared for legal proceedings on any forum; furthermore, FIA had also placed a reward for his arrest totaling at Rs. 500,000.
